Catalog of infrared observations. Part 2: Appendixes

The Catalog of Infrared Observations (CIO) is a compilation of infrared astronomical observational data obtained from an extensive literature search of astronomical journals and major astronomical catalogs and surveys. The literature searches are complete for years 1965 to 1986. Supporting appendixes are published in this part. The appendices include an atlas of infrared source positions, two bibliographies of infrared literature upon which the search was based, and, keyed to the main Catalog listings (organized alphabetically by first author, and by date), an atlas of infrared spectral ranges, and IRAS data for the CIO sources. The complete CIO database is available to qualified users in printed microfiche and magnetic tape formats

Catalog of infrared observations. Part 1: Data

The Catalog of Infrared Observations (CIO) is a compilation of infrared astronomical observational data obtained from an extensive literature search of astronomical journals and major astronomical catalogs and surveys. The literature searches are complete for 1965 through 1986 in this Second Edition. The Catalog is published in two parts, with the observational data (roughly 200,000 observations of 20,000 individual sources) listed in Part I, and supporting appendices in Part II. The expanded Second Edition contains a new feature: complete IRAS 4-band data for all CIO sources detected, listed with the main Catalog observations, as well as in complete detail in the Appendix. The appendices include an atlas of infrared source positions, two bibliographies of infrared literature upon which the search was based, and, keyed to the main Catalog listings (organized alphabetically by author and then chronologically), an atlas of infrared spectral ranges, and IRAS data from the CIO sources. The complete CIO database is available to qualified users in printed microfiche and magnetic tape formats

Far infrared supplement: Catalog of infrared observations, second edition

The Far Infrared Supplement: Catalog of Infrared Observations summarizes all infrared astronomical observations at far infrared wavelengths (5 to 1000 microns) published in the scientific literature from 1965 through 1986. The Supplement list contain 25 percent of the observations in the full Catalog of Infrared Observations (CIO), and essentially eliminates most visible stars from the listings. The Supplement is thus more compact than the main catalog, and is intended for easy reference during astronomical observations. Numerical study of substrate assimilation by a microorganism exposed to fluctuating concentration

In most modelling works on bioreactors, the substrate assimilation is computed from the volume average concentration. The possible occurrence of a competition between the transport of substrate towards the cell and the assimilation at the cell level is generally overlooked. In order to examine the consequences of such a competition, a diffusion equation for the substrate is coupled with a specific boundary condition defining the up take rate at the cell liquid interface. Two assimilation laws are investigated, whereas the concentration far from the cell is varied in order to mimic concentration fluctuations. Both steady and unsteady conditions are investigated. The actual uptake rate computed from the interfacial concentration is compared to the time-averaged uptake rate based on the mean far-field concentration. Whatever the assimilation law, it is found that the uptake rate can be correlated to the mean far-field concentration, but the actual values of the parameters are affected in case of transport limitation. Moreover, the structure of the far-field signal influences the substrate assimilation by the microorganism, and the mean interfacial uptake rate depends on the ratio between the characteristic time of the signal and the diffusional time scale, as well as on the amplitude of the fluctuations around the mean far-field concentration in substrate. The present work enlightens some experimental results and helps in understanding the differences between the concentration measured and that present in the microenvironment of the cells

The Catalog of Infrared Observations (CIO), NASA RP-1294, is a compilation of infrared astronomical observational data obtained from an extensive literature search of scientific journals and major astronomical catalogs and surveys. The literature search is complete for years 1965 through 1990 in this third edition. The catalog contains about 210,000 observations of roughly 20,000 individual sources, and supporting appendices. The expanded third edition contains coded IRAS 4-band data for all CIO sources detected by IRAS. The appendices include an atlas of infrared source positions (also included in this volume), two bibliographies of catalog listings, and an atlas of infrared spectral ranges. The complete CIO database is available to qualified users in printed, microfiche, and magnetic tape formats

Criteria for the segmentation of spoken input into individual utterances

This report describes how spoken language turns are segmented into utterances in the framework of the verbmobil project. The problem of segmenting turns is directly related to the task of annotating a discourse with dialogue act information: an utterance can be characterized as a stretch of dialogue that is attributed one dialogue act. Unfortunately, this rule in many cases is insufficient and many doubtful cases remain. We tried to at least reduce the number of unclear cases by providing a number of hands-on rules for segmenting dialogues. In that sense, we hope that this document is helpful for labeling dialogues with discourse information. This report has to be seen as an extension of the verbmobil Report No.65 that includes a detailed discussion of the various dialogue act types employed in verbmobil. Embodiment and Ecosocial Theory - Interview with Nancy Krieger

Nancy Krieger is a Professor of Social Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, where she has been researching the relationship between group-specific disease rates and social inequality. One focus of her areas of specialty is gender-specific aspects of health, in particular on the relationship between biological and social factors in health research (sex-linked biology and gender relations), including in relation to social class, racism, and other societal determinants of health. The relevance of the central concepts in her work, especially “embodiment” and “ecosocial theory,” reaches far beyond the boundaries of health research and could be used to develop a basis for research in all life sciences, as well as interdisciplinary projects on bodies in context. The following interview highlights some central theoretical and methodical aspects of her approach which can offer interesting possibilities for an integrative ecosocial perspective, drawing on social and biological insights regarding the development of bodily features

Im ersten Teil wird das Deutsche Tagebucharchiv in Emmendingen / Baden vorgestellt. Daraufhin folgt ein Einblick in Access. Im dritten Teil werden die Überlegungen und die Umsetzung zur Datenbank erläutert.
